Community Connections

Short Description

LCCAA’s Community Connections program
continues to experience supply chain issues.

Ohio Edison and LCCAA have teamed up to offer energy-efficient refrigerators, freezers and light-bulbs to income eligible Ohio Edison customers.

Overview

In an effort to help low-income families keep their utility costs low, Ohio Edison and LCCAA have partnered to offer customers energy assessments on refrigerators and freezers. If necessary, the Community Connections Program replaces the appliances. The program also offers energy efficient light bulbs for all fixtures in the client’s home and carbon monoxide detectors if needed.

To be eligible, clients must reside in Lorain County and live at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Line AND be a customer of Ohio Edison. If you are currently a HEAP or PIPP participant, you may be qualified. Renters can qualify if they own the appliances. Verification and a waiver of liability from the landlord is required.

Other requirements:

  • You must own the refrigerator and/or freezer.

  • You must have at least 12 months electrical service in your name.

  • Provide your most current electric bill.

  • Provide proof of income for everyone in the household 18 or older for the last 30 days. (HEAP/PIPP application information can be used if it is less than a year old.)

  • Provide a copy of Social Security cards for each household member.

  • Provide a copy of your driver’s license or state identification card.
