Policy Council Elects New Officers

posted 11/3/21 -- Head Start Policy Council seated new officers on the last day of September when a group of parents came together from across the LCCAA program.

Serving as Policy Council President for 2021-2022 will be Margaret Hartman who will also have a full voting seat on the LCCAA Board of Directors. Hartman’s daughter attends Hopkins-Locke Head Start.

“After recently losing my mother in August, I have come to realize how important and impacting a mother’s role can be in her children’s lives,” Hartman said. “I want to be able to be a strong representative. I believe I can make a difference.”

Hartman is a graduate of Clearview High School. In addition to her 4-year-old Head Start student, Hartman has a 7-year-old and a 1-year-old.

Stephanee Koscho from Firelands will serve as Vice President. Daphne Jackson from Hopkins Locke will serve as Secretary with Melanie Wiseman from LaGrange serving as Assistant Secretary.

Seating of the new officers also marked the last meeting for two-term President Susan West who was thanked profusely for her service.

“You are going to be the best advocates for your kids,” West told the new officers and members.” Through Policy Council, you will make decisions. It is so worth it.”

Policy Council members also have an opportunity to attend trainings and conferences locally, statewide and nationally. Policy Council meets once a month, right now via Zoom, but hopefully in person again soon with food and child care.
