Youth Help Clear Golden Acresposted 8/12/21 -- LCCAA Youth Workers helped an international cause last weekend without leaving Lorain County.
Four youth worked at the former Golden Acres Retirement Community cleaning and loading hospital beds and other equipment being donated to Rotary’s Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad (MESA) organization.
Golden Acres closed in 2015 and its Amherst Township building has been owned by the county since. In order to repurpose the property, the County Commission first needed to empty it. They contacted LCCAA requesting help.
The youth and other volunteers from Rotary clubs in the region loaded dozens hospital beds including mattresses as well as several walkers, wheelchairs and other items.
MESA collaborates with global organizations to provide needed technology, medical supplies and hope to areas of the world where there is little or no hope. Learn more about MESA by clicking here.
