Youth Services Has Room for YOU

posted 5/14/21 -- LCCAA Youth Services helps Lorain County men and women ages 16 to 24 find the focus and determination they need to pursue their dreams. There are current openings in the program which operates year-round.

In partnership with OhioMeansJobs Lorain County, the Youth Services program provides paid employment opportunities to the youth who then gain valuable experience. Both mentoring and community service are important components of the program, which also operates the LCCAA Bike Shop on West 10th Street in Lorain.

Current participants include a U.S. Air Force recruit, a future accountant, an aspiring restaurateur and other entrepreneurial minded young people.

Rafael Correa will receive his associate’s degree in accounting from Lorain County Community College this month. He plans to go on to Hiram University, eventually take the CPA exam and open his own accounting firm.

Josiah Rivas Amador impressed the staff at Second Harvest Foodbank while working through LCCAA’s Youth Services Program. He will become an Americorps VISTA worker at Second Harvest working in their offices.

Brent Hogue plans to translate what he is learning about bicycle mechanics to motored vehicles. Working with LCCAA Youth Services since October 2020, Brent’s family operates Worchester lawn equipment in North Ridgeville where he developed a taste for mechanical work. He hopes to own his own repair shop one day.
