Risner Named Hopkins Administrator

posted 2/19/21 -- Alicia Risner has been named as the new Site Administrator for Hopkins-Locke Head Start.

Risner has been with LCCAA Head Start teaching at its Griswold location since 2019 but has worked in education for more than 15 years.

“The thing I love most about working for Head Start is the team mentality,” she said. “I love that we have so many people and ways that work together to help our families.”

A native and resident of Huron, Risner holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University and a master’s degree in curriculum from Bowling Green State University. She and her husband have four children and enjoy spending time on Lake Erie, in the sunshine with friends and music.

Risner said the encouragement of her colleagues prompted her to seek the promotion and she is excited for the days ahead.

“I am looking forward to being able to witness all of the wonderful and creative ways the staff uses to educate our kids,” she said.

Risner fills the position left by Akeea Nelson in December. Nelson now works for the State of Ohio. Hopkins-Locke is the largest Head Start center operated by LCCAA. Beginning March 2, some Hopkins-Locke students will return to in person classes two days a week. All students have been virtual since November due to COVID-19.
