Ordering Opens for Produce Center

posted 8/21/23 -- Ordering is now open for the first food boxes from the new LCCAA Produce Center.

Lorain County residents living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level can pre-order a box for curbside pickup on Aug. 30 or 31. In the future, residents will be able to choose the items in their order, said CEO Jackie Boehnlein.

“As we get up and running, our offerings will expand,” Boehnlein said. “We know there is a great need for food in Lorain County and we are anxious to supply fresh produce to as many people as we can.”

Ordering for next week’s pickups opened at 8 a.m. Aug. 21 and will close at 11 p.m. Aug. 24. This allows time for staff to order items from Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio as well as organizing the boxes.

Neighbors using the Produce Center must meet income guidelines and only one pickup per household is allowed each week.

Appointments will be made through the online ordering system and must be honored. If an appointment-based food center doesn’t work for your family, LCCAA will refer to another.
