Water Program Closes After Helping Hundreds

posted 6/5/23 -- Nearly 1,500 Lorain County households received help from the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program over the last two years.

The program helped households who were behind on their payments for water and/or sewer service. The average benefit over the two years was $518.88.

In all, $744,411 was distributed while the program was active. Nationally, the program closes this September, however, funding allocated to Lorain County has been fully disbursed.

“Water assistance proved to be critically helpful to many during a time of great uncertainty,” said Planning and Community Services Director Bobby Taylor. “Our staff did an incredible job under stressful circumstances.”
