LCCAA Launches New Website

The Lorain County Community Action Agency (LCCAA) announced today that it has launched its new website at Same web address as before, but the look and feel of the website is all new. The dramatically redesigned site was created in partnership with Lorain County’s Emerge, Inc. The site embodies LCCAA’s commitment to serving the needs of local low-income families and offers:

• Content designed specifically for different visitor groups clearly grouped for ease of navigation
• direct access to frequently requested information from almost every page
• interactive information, including multimedia and an income eligibility calculator
• formatting that allows for viewing on mobile devices and smart phones

Featuring bold new colors and uncluttered organization, the site is modeled with the homepage as a welcoming “front door” for the diverse programs and services provided to the community by the agency. Historically used by 14,000 visitors each year, prior usage averaged 2.41 pages per visit. The new site has been designed with more page views per visitor in mind. Content has been arranged based on needs and overall reasons for visiting the site, but allows for easy access to additional information about the agency, its mission, current initiatives and issues facing low-income households.

“This new website has been almost a year-long project,” states Interim President and CEO, Jackie Boehnlein. “The new is easier to use and provides increased flexibility for future growth. It will greatly improve the experience of our customers and staff as we go forward. We view it as a tremendous new communication tool and platform for making a difference in the lives of people in need in our county.”
The Agency invites customers and community members to visit the new site. To get the full impact of the improved navigation, it is recommended that visitors enter as a customer looking for program information and then return to the homepage and proceed as a supporter or someone looking to learn more about LCCAA.

Upcoming Features

Still in the final development stage is a new feature called “Community POV” which stands for Community Points of View. Scheduled to launch in May 2012, Community POV will be member-based and allow low-income residents to make recommendations about local programs and services based on their personal experience. LCCAA’s 2011 Triennial Community Needs Assessment showed that residents in need of help do not know where to go to find meaningful assistance. Once launched and developed, Community POV will be residents sharing their positive experiences in order to help others in a timely, real-life way.

Also launching in May 2012 will be new search functionality. The search functionality is fully developed but will not be made active until sufficient data has been generated to make searching relevant to the new site.
