Summer Crisis

Summer Crisis typically begins on July 1 each summer.

The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance once per season to eligible households. You must secure an appointment to apply for this emergency program.

This program ended Sept. 1, 2024.

To qualify for help, households must be living at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Line ($54,600 for a family of four in 2024). They must also meet one of the following criteria:

At least one household member is age 60 or over.
A household member has a documented medical condition worsened by extreme heat.
Their electric service has been disconnected or they have received a disconnect notice.
They are trying to establish new service.
They are enrolling in PIPP Plus for the first time.
They are an existing PIPP customer in default.

Maximum benefits for Summer Crisis are:

$500 for regulated utilities
$800 for unregulated utilities
$1,500 for central air conditioning repairs

Residents who have not received an air conditioner from LCCAA in the last three years can request a unit. Electric box fans will also be distributed. Residents who have received air conditioners in the past three years may be eligible for a fan. Distribution of air conditioners and fans will be subject to availability.
