LCCAA operates a variety of programs designed to help with your utility bill. Some programs require appointments with us, some require applications with the State of Ohio. Learn more in our Guide to Energy Services.
How to Apply for Regular Services
It is really true! You no longer need to come to our offices for regular services. All regular services must be applied for through the State of Ohio at energyhelp.ohio.gov. Processing is on a first come, first served basis. All applications must come through the system where they are secure and can be tracked.
Online applications can take up to eight weeks to process and can be tracked by customers through the State’s website.
*If you are locked out of the state’s website, call 440-245-1870 and ask for help.
Energy Services staff will submit a request for assistance to the State on your behalf.
Applications can also be printed and mailed; however, those can take up to 12 weeks to process and cannot be tracked. Paper applications dropped off to LCCAA will be forwarded to the State of Ohio at the agency’s expense. This will save you postage, but may cause additional delays.
How to Apply for Emergency Services
Emergency assistance requires an appointment with an LCCAA staff member. To prioritize households with heating and cooling emergencies, LCCAA no longer accepts non-emergency appointments during crisis periods.
Winter Crisis: November 1 to March 31 annually for households without heat or facing a loss of heat.
Summer Crisis: July 1 to Sept. 30 annually for those 60 or older or with a medical necessity or other listed circumstances.
Service Transfers: While not an emergency, transferring service does require an appointment because it requires special handling.
Scheduled appointments will be conducted by phone. For those without online access, a limited number of walk -in appointments for emergency services are available. Visit the appropriate seasonal crisis page for the most up to date hours, which do not include 12 to 1 p.m. daily.
