Changes Continue on Streator Place

posted 8/4/23 -- Changes continue behind LCCAA’s Hopkins-Locke Head Start location.

The building at 1050 Reid Ave. in Lorain has long backed up to a string of homes that had fallen into disrepair on Streator Place. The last of the homes was demolished by the City of Lorain July 21.

LCCAA worked with the City of Lorain, Lorain County and local developer Jon Veard for the last five years to accomplish land acquisition and clearing.

“In addition to improving safety for our students and staff, we’re excited to have the space to make some wonderful improvements,” said LCCAA CEO Jackie Boehnlein.

Plans include an outdoor classroom with permanent seating a shade structure as well as a sensory garden. Additional staff parking will also be installed with intent to complete the projects by the end of 2025.
