Join Head Start on a Bear Hunt!

posted 7/5/22 -- LCCAA Head Start invites families to go on a Bear Hunt this summer!

More than 100 bears have been sent out to LCCAA partners and area organizations. Families are encouraged to go looking for the bears to learn about resources in their community and win a prize!

“This will be a fun activity for families that will also help them find valuable resources throughout the county,” said Family Engagement Specialist Maria Vasquez.

All families who find five bears and take pictures with them by the end of July will be entered into a drawing for a summer gift pack. Families can also earn additional entries by finding more bears or referring other families to Head Start.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is a popular children’s book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Families have been provided a tracker to mark where they find bears and what they learn from staff at those organizations.

Bears are posted at public libraries, Little Free Libraries, food banks, Lorain Public Health, Lorain County Health and Dentistry, the Palace Theater, Job and Family Services, the Salvation Army and more. The QR code on the bears links to LCCAA’s website.

Trackers can be turned in to staff at Hopkins-Locke and Griswold. Vasquez and the program’s Family Service Assistant Supervisors are working all summer. Other activities based on the book can be found at www.jointhebearhunt.com.
