LCCAA’s Lorain County Pathways HUB (LCPHUB) celebrated Community Health Worker Day on June 6 with a variety of activities designed to celebrate the CHWs who are the heartbeat of the HUB’s work.
“Our Community Health Workers spend their days advocating, listening and building relationships,” said LCPHUB Assistant Director Nina Brooks. “Their hard work is changing lives in Lorain County and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
LCPHUB links pregnant and new mothers with a local, trusted and caring CHW who focuses on the health of the mother and her children. This free program seeks to reduce infant mortality and improve the health of at-risk moms and infants throughout Lorain County.
“CHW Day was amazing! It exceeded my expectations,” said Cristina Ramirez, a Certified CHW with El Centro de Servicios Sociales. “It was a day full of fun events. It was special because it gave us an opportunity to spend the day with the other CHWs and the LCPHUB team. It will forever be a memorable day.”
