Is Your Refrigerator Running? We Can Help

posted 4/5/18 -- North Ridgeville resident Tammy Bartram had a refrigerator that she had to unplug and plug back in every few weeks just to make sure it was working.

“It seemed like the motor was dying, but I don’t know.” LCCAA performed an energy audit and replaced her refrigerator thanks to a partnership with Ohio Edison.

Aging appliances and incandescent light bulbs contribute to higher energy costs, particularly for low-income families, said Client Services Specialist Robert McDonald.

The partnership with Ohio Edison offers conservation measures starting with energy audits on refrigerators and freezers. If the appliances exceed the recommended energy use, they are replaced. The program also offers energy efficient LED light bulbs for all fixtures in the client’s home.

“It’s such a wonderful program” said Lorain resident Edilberta Pabon after receiving her new energy efficient refrigerator and energy efficient lightbulbs. “I appreciate so much what you have done for me.”

Bartram has new light bulbs too. “I couldn’t afford a lightbulbs and a refrigerator” said Ms. Cartram, who, like many people, is on a fixed income.

“It was an easy process, everyone was professional and they know what they’re doing. And there were no nasty attitudes.”
