By Car Program Changes Lives

posted 4/19/18 -- Seth Solis walked to school everyday because he was determined to change his life. He fit right in at Lorain County Community Action Agency's By Car Program.

"It is people and programs like this that help our community and people in need to move forward and get ahead in life," Seth said.

By Car matches earned income to help working men and women purchase quality used vehicles to drive to work or school. The program also includes a required class in budgeting and finance.

"I learned valuable information that will be with me for a lifetime," Solis said of the class, taught by Client Services Specialist Bob McDonald.

Seth now drives a used Lexus to Lorain County Community College where he is a full-time student and now has a part-time job because he has reliable transportation.

"I will definitely tell others in need of a vehicle about the program," Seth said. "You and Lorain County Community Action Agency are impacting the people of Lorain County for the good. I am truly a raving fan."

By Car is funded by the Community Services Block Grant, a federal program regularly up for renewal and reconsideration.
