Youth in LCCAA Program Have Busy Summer

posted 8/21/17 -- Eight teenagers from Lorain County are having a busy summer with LCCAA's Youth Program.

The program allows them to visit colleges and area businesses and hear from a variety of guest speakers. Community service and career development are also highlighted.

"We want them to think about their future - both as individuals and as community members," said Program Coordinator Bobby Taylor. "For some of them, these are ideas they've never considered: going to college, volunteering, building a resume."

So far, the group has toured the Federal Reserve Bank (pictured), University of Toledo, Cleveland State University and Lorain County Community College. They have also served as counselors for a NASA Sponsored daycamp, stocked Little Free Libraries, helped at food pantries, learned to write a resume, spruced up Direct Action Community Development Corporation properties and toured Elyria Plastics and PolyOne corporations.
