Tanzania Jackson will be driving her 2011 Toyota Corolla to classes at Lorain County Community College.
The aspiring labor and delivery nurse is grateful she was patient and saved for a car that will last. Her first trip was to Oberlin schools to pick up her son and brothers.
“I was walking and getting rides back and forth from work, school and making arrangements to pick up the boys,” she said.
Tanzania attended First Step Academy earlier this year to become an STNA/CAN. She is now pursuing both her LPN and RN at LCCC.
By Car matches earned income at a rate of $3 for every $1 saved. Participants must be active in OhioMeansJobs programs and also take a financial class through LCCAA.
Tanzania was grateful for the education she received on credit and for her case worker at OMJ who told her about the program.
