Three More Graduate Financial Class

posted 12/15/22 -- Three more Lorain County residents are closer to their own used vehicles thanks to completing the LCCAA financial class.

Tammy Boyd, Trevon West and Laterrica Smith began their road to vehicle ownership when they registered with OhioMeansJobs, Lorain County. The 2022 partnership increased the match in the By Car Program and added insurance as a benefit.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with OhioMeansJobs Lorain County to provide even more support to our By Car program participants," said Bobby Taylor, Planning and Community Services Director at LCCAA. "Our goal is to help income eligible clients achieve their dream of owning a vehicle while also teaching them important skills for managing their finances and maintaining their vehicles."

By Car matches earned income - $3 for every $1 saved – up to a maximum of $6,000 thanks to the partnership. One year of car insurance is also paid up to $2,500. The partnership requires participants to register with OMJ, complete the Work Keys assessment. Employment specialists assigned by OMJ approve participants for the program.

"We are so proud of Tammy, Trevon and Laterrica for successfully completing the Financial Literacy Course and for taking the important steps towards purchasing their own vehicles," Taylor added. "We are committed to supporting our clients and helping them achieve their goals."
