Garden Already Sprouting!

posted 7/1/21 -- Sprouts have appeared at LCCAA's Community Garden project in South Elyria. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and our partners OUR F.A.M.I.L.Y., Hope for Futures and the Elyria Public Library, we have baby plants!

The recent rains have helped too, since the irrigation tubes are not yet connected. Plants beginning to sprout include bok choy, lettuce, cucumbers, spinach, tomatoes, collard greens, beans, okra, squash, zucchini and peppers.

Hoops have been set up for covering the garden later in the season in order to allow a second round of fall crops that prefer cooler weather: kale, spinach, beets and radishes.

Stop by the library to watch the progress. This project is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES).
