Car Allows Man to Visit Familyposted 5/19/21 -- Michael Genaro looks forward to visiting family again now that he owns a reliable used car.
Michael purchased a 2007 Mercedes at Center Road Auto after completing LCCAA’s BYCar program. The program matches every dollar participants save at a rate of 3 to 1 to a maximum of $3,999.
“I could not afford to pay for Uber or Lyft or a car service,” Michael said. “I usually just stayed home or missed important appointments.”
In addition to family visits, Michael is grateful to be able to grocery shop and get to medical appointments. He found the required financial literacy course extremely useful and his next goal is to save to buy a condo or a house, he said.
“Colette (Park, Clients Services Coordinator) has been so helpful and kind, helping me obtain and send necessary documentation. She is supportive and I am beyond grateful,” he said.
Michael encourages others to take advantage of the popular program which he learned about through the Advocacy and Resource Center at Lorain County Community College.
“It is very worth the time to get paperwork together and the financial literacy course is helping me be more responsible,” he said.
