More Kids Returning to In-Person Learning

posted 4/1/21 -- More local youngsters will be welcomed back to in-person learning at LCCAA’s Head Start centers beginning April 13.

Classroom capacity is being increased to 12 children and instruction days are being increased to four, said Head Start Director Shauna Matelski, Ed.D.

“We will continue to focus on children who are transitioning to kindergarten, but we will be able to invite additional children,” she said. “The COVID-19 vaccine roll out has brought renewed hope of getting the virus under control.”

Most centers will continue to operate on a shortened day since virtual instruction is still being offered for other children.

Family service workers contacted families about bringing their children back to the classroom. Spring break as originally scheduled has been canceled at most centers, Matelski added.
