What's the Safest Place in the Car for Children?

posted 3/29/20 -- Many kids love to ride in cars, but what’s the best way to keep them safe?

Ohio law and recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics provide these tips.

► Infants and toddlers should ride rear facing as long as possible. Check the weight and height limits of your seat and if your child has not outgrown it, keep them rear facing until age 2.

► By Ohio law, children must be in a car seat with an internal harness until they are BOTH 4-years-old and 40 pounds.

► Ohio law also now requires children older than 4 to be in a booster seat until they are EITHER 8-years-old or 4 feet and 9 inches tall.

► The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children remain in the back seat until they are at least 13-years-old. Crash tests have shown the middle of the back seat is the safest place for any passenger.
