Care Cupboard Serves More Than 300

posted 3/25/20 -- More than 300 people were served by LCCAA’s youth operated Care Cupboard last weekend.

The Care Cupboard marked its second anniversary while implementing new controls in response to the COVID-19 crisis. With the help of the City of Lorain, the agency closed an alley behind the LCCAA Bike Shop at 204 W. 10th St. to allow for a drive up service. Walk-ups were also accepted.

“Wait times were minimal and everyone was very cooperative,” said LCCAA President and CEO Jackie Boehnlien.

The 328 individuals who were helped came from 99 households and included 135 children. The distribution also included 300 nutritionally dense meals donated by the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies. OACAA purchased 18,000 meals to distribute through Community Action Agencies across the state.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the April Care Cupboard has been cancelled. If you need assistance, please visit Second Harvest's website for the most up to date list of food distributions.
