Local Principal Visits Head Start Classroom

posted 10/31/19 -- Head Start programs across the country have taken advantage of the coincidence that October is both Head Start Awareness Month and National Principals Month by inviting public school principals into their classrooms.

Lynne Stark, principal of Vincent Elementary in the Clearview Local School District, visited Hopkins-Locke Head Start last week. She read “We Don’t Eat our Classmates” by Ryan Higgins to an attentive audience.

“Hundreds of students transition from Head Start to public kindergarten programs every year,” said LCCAA Head Start Director Shauna Matelski, Ed.D. “We work collaboratively with the school districts in Lorain County to make sure the students are ready for kindergarten and that they have a smooth transition that sets them up for a successful year and a strong academic career.”
