Head Start Students Visit Local History Center

posted 5/13/19 -- Head Start students from Hopkins-Locke enjoyed visiting the new Children's History Room at the Lorain Historical Society's Carnegie Center.

The space in downtown Lorain allows children to learn about Lorain's industrial history. The display includes two interactive, working models of the Charles Berry bascule bridge and the Paul R. Tregurtha ore ship.

Visits have also included a story time with plenty of opportunities to learn through play.

The Children's History Room is open to the public Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is staffed by a qualified educator.

Small group visits, classes for children grades K-3, field trips as well as spring and summer camp opportunities are available. Teachers, parents and interested adults may contact Bonni at 440-245-2563, or [email protected] more information on dates and cost.
