Parent Meetings Offer Chance to Connect

posted 1/22/19 -- LCCAA Head Start Parents have many opportunities to be part of their children's education and decisions made about the program.

Each Head Start center holds periodic Parent Meetings when parents hear from community speakers, learn how to extend learning at home, try craft projects and more. Topics are chosen by the parents.

Parents at Hopkins-Locke recently heard fromVirginia Beckman, director of Genesis House Domestic Violence Center. Parent meetings also offer a chance for staff to share new information with families and for new parents to be chosen for the Parent Policy Council.

At Hopkins-Locke, Kathryn Brenner was elected to the council. For information on your center's Parent Meeting schedule, ask your child's teacher or your Family Service Worker.
