2,500 Warm Kids

posted 3/30/17 -- In partnership with Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority, LCCAA has provided winter coats to kids in Lorain since 2014.

Residents of LMHA properties ages 3 to 18 have received brand new winter coats each year since 2014.

A total of 1,433 youths have been provided with coats. The total cost has been $25,730, averaging $17.96 per coat

LMHA Executive Director Homer Virden welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with LCCAA.

"A warm winter coat will protect the health of the children as they experience the winter weather," he said in 2015. "The smiles on the faces of the children who received coats are invaluable."

When funding permits, coats are also distributed to Head Start children in need, extending the reach to more than 2,500 children over three years.
