Produce Flowing Out of Garden Partnership

posted 8/8/24 -- Elyria residents are enjoying a collection of fresh produce outside the South Branch of the Elyria Library at 340 15th St.

The Community Garden is a partnership among the library, LCCAA and Our F.A.M.I.L.Y.

Bobbie, a home health care worker, sometimes brings her clients by the garden.

“I’m amazed at how much work they put into it and how awesome everything looks,” she said right after trying her first purple tomato.

Other clients include Vietnam War veteran Jim Roberts, 78, who came by to pick some green beans.

Jacob, Cassandra and Mina know the fresh produce has great health benefits. Another nearby family even came out in the rain to harvest from the garden.

Area residents can pick all they want from the garden and containers on the site. All produce is free and fresh.

Volunteers are needed each week to assist with general garden activities such as mulching, harvesting and weeding the community garden. Join others at the garden every Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
