'Miss Francis' Retires

posted 5/5/22 -- Frances Morales-Caraballo has left a piece of her heart with hundreds of LCCAA Head Start families. After 27 years with the agency, Miss Frances retired April 29. Like many long-time employees, she started out as a Head Start parent.

“I was a volunteer when my son was attending and someone said to me ‘we’re hiring’ so I applied,” she said. “They needed bus monitors. I thought ‘I can do that’ and got hired. Then one day the manager came out and said all bus monitors would be trained to be bus drivers.”

Although she was surprised, Miss Francis took her training and drove a Head Start bus for 15 years. When LCCAA stopped busing its Head Start students, she became a family service worker.

“My favorite thing about the agency was always the diversity,” she said. “I enjoyed meeting all the Head Start familia as well as the community familias. And, last but not least, the children. They all have a piece of my heart.”

In retirement, Miss Francis (who declined to have her picture taken) plans to spend time with family and friends, travel and volunteer.

“I am so thankful and grateful to the agency for allowing me the opportunity to serve the community,” she said. “Thank you for all the wonderful memories.”
