LCCAA Head Start to Read for the Record

posted 10/15/21 -- LCCAA Head Start will join readers around the world in Jumpstart’s 16th Annual Read for the Record Day this October.

Read for the Record is a global campaign that:

  • Increases awareness of early literacy
  • Makes high-quality books accessible for all children
  • Raises funds to support work with early learners

The global day will be celebrated Oct. 28, but LCCAA Head Start classrooms will read on Oct. 21 due to fall break.

This year’s book is Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon. When Amy Wu’s class is making their own dragons at craft time, Amy creates a dragon with a long, wingless body, stag-like horns, and eagle claws, but her friends don’t think it’s a real dragon.
