Clients of LCCAA’s Lorain County Pathways HUB (LCPHUB) can get to know each other at quarterly group encounters hosted by their Community Health Workers.
The June encounter at Sandy Ridge Reservation in North Ridgeville included a picnic and an opportunity to plant a seed.
“We plan the encounters in advance to cover and implement all eight Dimensions of Wellness,” said CHW Coordinator Teresa Pagan. “All the participants said going outdoors is important to them to connect with nature, relax, meditate and reduce stress.”
The group also discussed how they can connect with nature and their babies. The encounter focused on the Dimension of Environmental Wellness: occupying pleasant, clear and stimulating environment that supports well-being.
“We also planted sunflower seeds to teach participants that they also can connect to nature by looking at the beauty of seeing a plant grow,” Pagan said.
The next encounter is planned for Sept. 26.
