Although the Winter Crisis Program has ended, there is still time for Lorain County residents to get help paying winter bills.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is available to residents living at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Level. Applications for this annual benefit can be made as early at July 1 before the winter season or as late as May 31 after the winter season.
Benefits have been adjusted to pre-pandemic levels, according to the Ohio Department of Development. This year, the HEAP customer benefit range is $24 to $441. Each household’s benefit is based on the household’s income, fuel source and location within the state.
No appointment is needed to apply for HEAP. Click here to apply online.
LCCAA also operates four satellite locations where Lorain County residents can apply in person. Click here for details and hours.
