Thousands Helped in Summer Crisis Programposted 9/15/16 -- More than five thousand people received help managing the heat and their electric bills during LCCAA's Summer Crisis Program.
The Home Energy Assistance Program signed 4,952 residents up for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan. PIPP allows qualifying residents to pay a percentage of their income for utilities: 10% if they are all electric or 6% each if they receive both electric and natural gas.
PIPP keeps bills at manageable levels and helps residents avoid crises. Crisis help was provided to 360 residents who needed assistance with electric bills this summer. HEAP staff also distributed 257 air conditioning units.
Help is available year round by calling1-855-806-9620. Special assistance for winter bills begins Nov. 1.
