Fathers Welcomed Into Head Start Classrooms

posted 2/2/17 -- The annual Read to Me Daddy event welcomed fathers into Head Start classrooms around Lorain County.

Read to Me Daddy is just one of several father themed activities that are scheduled throughout the year to help strengthen the relationships between children, fathers, and the school.

Fathers of Head Start students join the class for a full or partial day and read aloud to the classes. Evidence shows father engagement benefits children in a number of ways.

"We are here to support all parents and welcome dads and moms to visit our centers and join in classroom learning," said Sharon Henry, Family Services Supervisor and Fatherhood Initiative Liaison.
