OACAA Releases "State of Poverty in Ohio" Report

Fighting poverty and working together to ensure the basic needs of all citizens are met requires staying current of what poverty looks like in our state from year to year. To that end, the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies (OACAA) publishes an annual report that serves as "a primer...and as a reference for continued, coordinated efforts to reduce poverty and its effects". Called the State of Poverty in Ohio: Building a Foundation for Prosperity, OACAA released its report on January 22, 2010. The report contains the latest statistics on people living in poverty in Ohio as well as insights into the ongoing recession. Focus on the need for well paying jobs, lifelong learning opportunities, affordable housing, transportation options, and social/household safety nets and the role of Community Action are also included.
