Open Invitation to CLTC Mural Unveiling on May 6 at 6PM

Public Invited to Attend the Unveiling of the Latest Common Ground Mural Arts Project Installation at LCCAA’s Community Learning & Technology Center on May 6 at 6:00PM

On Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 6:00PM a recognition event and mural unveiling will be held in Lorain County Community Action Agency’s Community Learning & Technology Center (CLTC) located at 506 Broadway Avenue in Lorain on the third floor. The public is welcome. Activities will include recognition of the talented, hard-working youth that created the mural as part of Common Ground’s Mural Arts Project as well as an unveiling of the installed mural that commemorates the work of the CLTC.

“We knew that any mural the project delivered would be a wonderful addition to our Learning Center,” states Jackie Boehnlein, Director of Strategic and Organizational Development for LCCAA, “but, Rick Grahovac (Common Ground Executive Director), Fred Farschman (Artist/Educator) and the youth far exceeded our expectations. Their interpretation and rendering of what the Community Learning & Technology Center is about not only makes our space more welcoming, its celebration of learning nicely sets the stage for the work done in our adjacent classrooms.”

The mural spans nearly 26 feet. With such a large project, ten young people aged 15-20 worked collaboratively to create the LCCAA CLTC mural over the course of several months. Themes in the mural include opening doors and minds, celebrating technology, and coming together as a community.
