LCCAA to Again Partner with Food Pantries

posted 9/18/14 -- Lorain County Community Action Agency announced it will be providing funding to Lorain County food pantries to assist pantries in November and December of this year.

The funding partnerships began last year as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced cuts to food stamp benefits. The cuts caused a spike in demand at food pantries.

Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis and is for the sole purpose of purchasing food and grocery items (edible and inedible). To be eligible, pantries must be located in Lorain County, distribute food to clients at or below 125% of the federal poverty line, and conduct monthly reporting of clients served.

"We anticipate selecting numerous partners from the applications submitted," CSBG Director Frank Prihoda said. "The average grant will be at least $1,000."

The deadline to apply for partnership funding is October 15.  Food pantries interested in applying for the funding can review the instuctions by clicking here
