Henderson Bridge Shuttle Ends with Project Completion

posted 11/9/16 -- LCCAA has ended its shuttle service for pedestrians unable to use the Henderson Bridge during its rehabilitation. The bridge work is complete and the sidewalk has reopened.

LCCAA provided nearly 3,000 rides between May 6 and Nov. 6 for residents who walk across the bridge to get to and from work. Construction had closed the sidewalk this spring forcing pedestrians to walk in the traffic lane risking their safety. In response to threatened police citations, LCCAA worked with ODOT to set up the shuttle service.

"Henderson Bridge connects two low-income neighborhoods and we know there is a serious lack of public transportation in our county," said LCCAA President and CEO Jackie Boehnlein. "Providing a safe alternative for pedestrians who have no choice but this bridge was the right thing to do."
