Food Pantry Grants Return for Fourth Yearposted 9/29/16 -- Lorain County Community Action Agency is looking for more partners for its annual Holiday Food Pantry Grants.
For the fourth year, LCCAA will provide funding to partners throughout the county to purchase food and grocery items during the busiest months of the year for food pantries. Items must be distributed between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31.
Agencies who have previously partnered in this program do not need to apply and should have already been contacted about the new funding.
New partners must submit a proposal by Oct. 17. To be eligible, organizations must be located in Lorain County, conduct monthly reporting of clients served and provide food to any person in need, at no charge. “In need” is defined as living at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty line.
Proposals should consist of a cover letter on organizational letterhead which includes the following:
- The number of years the pantry has been in service
- The geographic area served by the pantry
- Number of persons assisted in the last 12 months
- Number of staff
- Number of volunteers
- Contact information
Submissions should be sent to LCCAA at 506 Broadway, P.O. Box 245, Lorain, Ohio 44052-0245. Awards will be announced Oct. 21 and partners will be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. Grants will be on a reimbursement basis. The average grant is expected to be $950 per partner.
