Community Service Block Grant

CSGB A long-standing recipient of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding, LCCAA’s current approved CSBG funding is for program years 2008 and 2009. CSBG remains one of our federal government’s major efforts of the War on Poverty. The federal government delegates responsibility for the program to the state-level. Consequently, LCCAA’s funding comes through the Ohio Department of Development which has oversight of the program for the State of Ohio.

CSBG funding serves as important resource because while there are strict accountabilities for all expenditures, receiving agencies are given discretion to use the funding as is needed locally. Monies are used to support programming, build capacity, and contribute to local initiatives. Here in Lorain County, our CSBG dollars support the following:

  • Adult Basic Instruction
  • Community Assessment
  • Community Development
  • Credit Education and Counseling
  • Down Payment Assistance
  • Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness
  • Emergency Home Repair
  • Family Literacy
  • Financial Literacy
  • Foreclosure Counseling
  • GED Services
  • Homeownership Training
  • LCCAA’s Food Pantry
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Outreach
  • Workforce Investment Partnership Agreement
